Retreat: Spring 2024

Village Quilters will be hosting a Quilt Retreat on April 12-14, 2024. It will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mettawa. We have had several retreats at this location and it has become a favorite. We sew in their ball room that is spacious and has an abundance of natural light during the day.

We begin at 8:00 am on Friday and wrap it up on Sunday afternoon. At the retreat each quilter works on their own projects. We each have our own table and electricity for our machines.

Costs
Registration: $65.00. This fee covers renting the ballroom for three days. No partial payments will be accepted for registration. No refunds will be given.

Participants at the retreat have two options for accommodation: 

Option #1: Stay at the hotel for the weekend. Have the convenience of going to your room for a quick nap, sleep late if you want, sew into the wee hours of the night and no worries about driving home. Rent a hotel room, a single or share the room with a friend. The hotel offers the rate of $134 (plus taxes) per night, and breakfast is not included. 

Option #2: Drive home after the day of sewing and sleep in your own bed. 

Even if you cannot participate for all three days, you must pay the full $65 registration fee.

To sign up for the retreat 

Registration begins March 1 at 8:00 am.

  1. Pay your registration fee online or by check. To pay by check, email Marti Austin and send a check to her payable to Village Quilters.

At the retreat

Bring your sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, and projects that you wish to work on.

The ballroom has enough room for thirty individual sewing tables, two or three ironing stations, and two cutting tables. The hotel provides the ironing boards and hotel irons.

Arrival is any time after 8:00 a.m. on Friday. Every person will have their own table. Enter through the front entrance, pass the registration desk, round the corner past the pool and continue along the hall until you come to the end. The ballroom is on the right.

  2. Optional: If you have opted for a hotel room, you will pay the hotel directly on the first day of the retreat.

This retreat is for the members of Village Quilters of Lake Bluff and Lake Forest. We can easily accommodate 32 participants.

Wait List

If the retreat is filled when you attempt to register, contact Marti Austin immediately through email and ask to be put on the wait list. Your name will be listed in the order that Marti receives the request. All is not lost. In the past, those who were on the wait list have been contacted close to the retreat dates and have been offered a place. At the last retreat, places were opened up the week of the retreat due to illnesses.
