Road Closure Warning for July Guild Meeting
IL Route 176 (Rockland Road) will be fully closed at the Metra Railroad in the Village of Green Oaks July 15-24. If you travel on Rt 176 between St. Mary's Road and Waukegan Road to attend the guild meeting, you should consider avoiding this area and allowing extra travel time.
Submit Your Quilts at the July Meeting
Get your quilt photographed and submit your entry at the July meeting. Kearstie Grenier will be taking photographs and Margaret Martin will have a computer with internet access and will help you submit your entry.
If you have not picked up your raffle tickets for the quilt show, you may do so at our next meeting. Remember, we do ask that all members sell at least $25 worth of tickets. We also have additional tickets for those who need more. If you have sold your tickets, you may turn them in at the next meeting.
Thank you to all who donated scraps to this effort! The last date to donate is the July 21 Guild meeting. Absolutely no donations after that date!
Future sorting days at Gayle Springer's (see membership list for address):
Wednesday, July 29 - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, August 12 - 9am to Noon
Thursday, August 20 - 1 to 3 pm
We will be selling fat quarters and yardage at the July 21 meeting… at bargain basement prices. Bring cash!
Please enjoy creating a small (12" x 12") piece, quilted, bound and registered for the show. More info can be found on the Challenges page of the web site.
Work-Day on July 22
We are hosting a work-day for members to finish their entries for the quilt show (maybe even make a label for the back and a pocket for hanging). Or you can work on silent auction items, boutique, aprons or QOV projects.
We will be meeting at Faith Lutheran Church from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Feel free to come for as long or short as you want. Bring your sewing machine, if you need one. We will have fabric for members to work on for QOV quilts. It will be fun to all sew together, so join us!
Don't forget it is only two weeks before the deadline to enter quilts. This will be a great place to photograph your quilt. We will have a stand with black drapes to help you out if you wish to use it.
Hanging Day Line Captains Needed
While everyone is expect to help hang the quilts in the show, line captains are needed to help organize the crew of volunteers and make sure each quilt is hung in its proper location. No experience necessary!
We will begin recruiting Line Captains at the July guild meeting.
All the line captains will before the show to review the hanging layout, learn how our quilt racks are assembled, and learn to hang quilts properly. Finally, line captains must arrive reasonably early on hanging day and must be prepared to stay until hanging is complete.
