Quilt Show News for August 13, 2025

A Short Note from the Webmaster

I have redesigned and reorganized our website. The quilt show information for members has been relocated to the footer, so don’t forget to scroll down to the bottom of any page. I hope this makes it easier to find!

Get Ready for a Creative Day of Sewing!

Join us this Saturday, August 16, at the Lake Villa District Library for a fun and inspiring day of sewing for the Boutique!

Bring your creativity, your projects, and your enthusiasm — we’ll provide the space and camaraderie.

To make sure we have a room big enough for everyone, please let us know if you think you will be joining us. But if your plans are uncertain, feel free to drop in whenever you can. We can’t wait to see you there!

Boutique items are slowly coming in! We have received some great pieces, from quilted runners to name tags. If you have any items to donate, please bring them to the guild meetings so we can collect them.

We look forward to what you bring to help us fill up the tables to have a successful show.

And don’t forget, there will be additional group sewing at Sunshine Stitchers (contact Marti Austin for details):

August 21, September 18, and October 16
State Bank of The Lakes

Thank you!

Quilts of Valor Deadline Extended to October 1

Although the deadline has passed for Quilts of Valor that will be hung in the show, you have until October 1 to submit a Quilt of Valor that will be donated.

You must enter the quilt and include a photo to complete your submission; these quilts may be displayed in the Quilts of Valor ceremony space.

If you are still working on your Quilt of Valor, please be sure to follow the size guidelines below:

  • Recommended size is 60 in. x 80 in.

  • Minimum size is 55 in. x 65 in.

  • Maximum size is 72 in. x 90 in.

This year, we will be presenting six Quilts of Valor at our show, and I have received the nomination forms from those quilters. Thank you! I will be in touch with the recipients very soon.

I am thrilled to honor our veterans at the ceremony on Saturday, October 25, at 1:00 p.m., and I hope you can take the time to attend. It’s wonderful to see. I am so grateful to all who continue to support Quilts of Valor at our show.

If you have questions, please contact Carrol Stovold.

Silent Auction

Thank you to those who have already contributed to the Silent Auction!

This is a very important fundraiser for the guild, and its success relies entirely on member donations. This year, we would love for every member to participate!

If you haven't already, let's get started — create a small piece using your favorite quilting technique or make an item you've been wanting to craft for yourself, but make two, or maybe finish a UFO, or try out a new-to-you color scheme.

Wall hangings, quilts, table runners, and seasonal items are all popular. It doesn't have to be big; small is fine. If it's something you love, others will love it too.

Items don't need hanging sleeves or labels, but we would like a slip of paper with this information pinned to each item:

  • Item Name/Title

  • Makers’ Name

  • Is Buy-It-Now ok? Yes/No

  • Requested Buy-it-now price (optional)

There is also a downloadable form for this information on the Silent Auction page.

Bring your finished items to our August or September guild meeting, or give one of us a call for drop-off or pick-up.

Thank you for your contribution!

Erica Jarret and Donna Derstadt
