Sashiko Works

Learning from rich cultural textile traditions and exchanging powerful stories are at the heart of Maday’s work. She is passionate about uniting students of all skill levels, creating an inclusive environment where creativity flourishes and her love of vibrant, sustainable textiles can be shared. Her artistry has been featured on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims, highlighting her innovative approach and dedication to education.

Drawing from her own hands-on training with a Japanese Sashiko master, Maday will lead an engaging “Sashiko Works” workshop. Participants will begin by working on pre-printed cloth to learn the fundamentals of the Sashiko stitching process. From there, they will expand their skills by learning how to draft and design their own traditional Sashiko patterns, blending heritage techniques with personal expression.

There is an additional kit fee ($20) for this workshop.
