Hexagons!

This workshop allows participants to create a one of a kind project with design assistance. We will cover design options, planning, assembly tips and techniques. Also included are finishing options. Participants will make hand-stitched hexagons florets to use in a quilt or sewing accessory.

Hexagon papers: Student Choice

Recommended Size: ½” SIDE is the smallest, 1” SIDE is the largest
Recommended Quantity: minimum 30

Thread - Cotton – Aurofil 80 is ideal, 50 is OK, Feel free to bring others to try, Color – To match fabric
Needles - Straw or Milliners Size 11, These are FINE needles, Optional needle threader
Color Pencils or Crayons
Paper for sketching
Mechanical Pencil or Quilt pencil with multiple lead colors
Fabrics - Bring a variety!

Option – not using selective cuts, bring scraps
For Selective cutting – At least 6 design or image repeats across width of length
Contrasting prints
Stripes, florals, geometric… all work
When in doubt – bring it along

Basic Sewing Kit including thimble, fabric scissors, personal light, etc.

Optional - Small plastic sewing clips


This workshop is limited to 20 participants. It opened to non-members on June 21, 2017.
