Quilts from the Village IX

It Goes to Show!

As I was writing this article, I was somewhat tearful at having to acknowledge that Quilts from The Village XI was finally over. What an amazing show it was! Everyone who attended raved about the space, the professionalism of our members and, most of all, the spectacular exhibits. We did ourselves proud. Congratulations to each and every member. Including the Hoffman Challenge, we showed over 360 quilts, a record for our Guild's shows.

The Boutique and Silent Auction were each an enormous success. Everybody loved watching the folks over at Sit 'n Sew and, I have no doubt, learned a lot. I know I definitely have a renewed respect for English Paper Piecers! Younger visitors to the show had a blast making quilt blocks and no doubt we hooked a few to take up this innocuous addiction in the near future. The vendors provided an attractive and diverse array of goodies and hopefully we all shopped 'til we dropped. On a more serious note, we are so grateful to Michael Babich and Mr. Martin for allowing us the privilege of displaying their beloveds' quilts. What a deeply touching and poignant aspect to our show.

Thank you, everyone. It has been my pleasure to serve as the Chairperson of Quilts from the Village XI. Now, on to finish that dust-collecting patriotic quilt!
